I was born in Chile from peruvians parents and move to Peru at the age of one. At the age of 12 my mom and I move to France, and at 24 I arrive to New York and move to the South Bronx.
I am a fusion of racial
and cultural identities that
is the legacy of colonialism,
which gives me an extensive
catalog of experiences, images
and ideas to feed my art.
I have learned from those
cultures the creative
potential of popular art and
so called “Primitive Artâ€,
these cultures has taught me
the importance of the creative
use of my hands and
imagination to transform the
imagination of others My work
is inspired and shaped by my
surroundings. I am on a quest
to better understand humanity
and myself through my art.
I have chosen Printmaking as
my medium of expression
because it offers the artist
the chance for discovery and
encourages experimentation.
This year, I am working to
deepen my understanding and
hone my skills. I am
utilizing new techniques and
introducing other mediums in
my work. I am taking risks
and looking for new ones;
using a wider palette of
colors, textures and materials
and combining them in ways I
have never tried before. |
