STATEMENT
Through videos, photographs, performance-actions, sculptures, texts, designs and installation, artist Hatuey Ramos-Fermín explores notions of migration and globalization about the meaning of a shared or public-private space and cultural exchange in connection to migrants experiences. His proposals investigate the world around us, revealing a larger set of social and political truths in direct straight forward and metaphorical approach. His practice is a combination between the documentary and the fine arts. Ramos-Fermin’s work is laden with theatrical-like imagery and challenges social and artistic conventions with drama, humor, and irony.

Framing Conversations
Performance art - Amsterdam, NL
the short video ‘Framing Conversations’ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuUoaflGmiI) it was a performance of mine where I played the role of a photography instructor doing a workshop. Predominantly Latin American migrant amateur photographers were given three assignments, I posed a question, and they answered them with photographs. These assignments where given in order to see from their perspectives and points of views, aspects of what it means to be a migrant in an international city like Amsterdam.
