| She Was Born |
She was born, I was already 12 years old with a camera and a burgeoning desire to stage my own photo shoots. This muse entered my life, at first passive, unassuming; then, participating, opinionated, a contributing creator. Later she would claim I turned her into my puppet, only agreeing to pose half-heartedly for quickie snapshots. Different characters occupy the series over the years: child-nymph, survivor of a chemical-biological threat, child of divorce, teen punk, world traveler, soldier. In all of them - my sister’s eyes.

This series is the second in a trilogy of explorations of femininity in the urban landscape. Juxtaposing the harsh urban scenery of asphalt, concrete, metal and glass with a colorful, soft and otherworldly feminine presence invoking the powers of nature and magic through ceremony, plays with a fragile tension. This series was created during my participation in the Makor Artist in Residence program, Fall 2006-2007. Photos from this series were part of the group show Holly Holes, Absolute Stalls, curated by Denise Carvalho at DAC, DUMBO, 2008. Model: Vered Sivan |

| Lost in Transit (Blond) |
A woman at the train station, her hair platinum blond, a conscious or unconscious tribute to Marilyn, in her hand a wine glass. She wears a silk robe and a lost expression. What is she doing here?
I’m interested in odd combinations: domestic invades public space. Mythical clashes with harsh reality. In this meeting of contradictions, the NYC subway is a metaphor for a life situation many women experience: STUCK. - in a foreign environment, between expectations and reality, without a way out, without being able to find a real destination, and go there.
